Lời giới thiệu dài ngoẵng 26 trang viết huyên thuyên làm hỏng hết giá trị cả cuốn sách. Lẽ ra nhà xuất bản nên mời một người am hiểu chuyên môn để giới thiệu sách. Viết ba lăng nhăng làm bực mình độc giả!

 

Khóc giữa Sài Gòn

Cũng lâu lâu không đọc văn học trẻ nên thấy review tác giả Nguyễn Ngọc Thạch thấy nhiều người khen bèn thử chọn một cuốn đọc xem sao. Đọc xong cứ thấy nhàn nhạt, gượng ép và nói như các cụ ngày xưa là ủy mị tiểu tư sản. Có lẽ mảng đề tài đồng tính nam đang hot nên được các bạn trẻ tò mò rồi đánh giá cao chăng?

Hồi trước được bạn tặng cuốn viết về đề tài miền núi của một tác giả trẻ khác cũng kiểu thế. Đọc xong thấy thất vọng tràn trề vì nội dung nông choèn, văn chương lên gân đến sống sượng. Thiếu trải nghiệm đa dạng và kinh nghiệm sống là một phần. Phần lớn hơn đối với một số tác giả trẻ là thiếu quan sát, suy ngẫm về cuộc sống, sự việc, thân phận của những người xung quanh chăng?

Ghép bậy bạ tiêu đề mấy cuốn sách mới đọc gần đây 🙂

Bác Thiệp viết cuốn này theo lối tuyên truyền, giáo dục lộ quá, chả giống với văn phong mà mình từng đọc và thích. Nhiều chỗ chắc do viết nhanh, viết vội nên hơi bị ẩu và sượng.

Cuốn này thì khỏi nói. Phải khen người dịch sang tiếng Việt rất tuyệt! Nhiều chỗ đọc nổi da gà.

Một cuốn viết về chiến tranh nhưng không theo lối ngày xưa. Nhân văn hơn, cân bằng hơn.

Đất nước – Hữu Mai

Mình đọc Đất Nước của nhà văn Hữu Mai từ hồi còn bé xíu. Mama có một cái chạn sách nhỏ treo cao ơi là cao. Những buổi không đi học, ở nhà mằn mò thế nào cũng leo lên lục được. Sách ngày xưa in giấy đen thui, bìa mỏng dính, chuyền qua tay nhiều người nên xộc xà xộc xệch. Có nhiều trang bị rách, bị mất hoặc lẫn lung tung. Hầu hết sách chả giữ được lâu. Sau này nhiều lần đi hiệu sách cố tình tìm lại cuốn này nhưng vẫn chưa có may mắn.

Những hình dung đầu tiên về phố phường Hà Nội của mình là từ cuốn sách này. Nhiều khi đi qua một con phố, thấy tên, lại nhớ đến những chi tiết Hữu Mai mô tả. Ngày xưa ít cái để đọc nên nhớ lâu. Với lại mỗi cuốn đôi khi cũng đọc đi đọc lại vài lần.

Cuốn này tải về Kindle khá lâu rồi nhưng chưa đụng đến. Đợt rồi đi công tác buồn buồn lôi ra đọc chơi. Nói chung văn thì chả hay mấy nhưng có những câu chuyện về mảng cuộc sống khác của một giai đoạn lịch sử khá thú vị.

1984 – George Orwell

Hồi trước đọc “Chuyện ở nông trại” (tiêu đề “Trại súc vật” hay hơn nhưng chắc do sách xuất bản chính thức nên kị húy) mình đã mong được đọc tiếp cuốn “1984” của George Orwell.

May sao trên Việt Nam Thư Quán có. Bản dịch phải nói rất hay, nghĩa sát sạt, rất thực tế! Dĩ nhiên là cuốn này thì muôn đời cũng không xuất bản chính thức được trong bối cảnh hiện nay. Ai quan tâm thì đọc trên Việt Nam Thư Quán (có thể convert thành ebook để đọc trên máy tính bảng, Kindle, …).

Phát triển là quyền tự do

development-as-freedomXong cuốn vỡ lòng, chuyển sang một cuốn kinh điển được ca ngợi và trích dẫn rất nhiều của bác Amartya Sen, Development as Freedom. Em Kindle Paperwhite có cái chức năng clipping rất hữu dụng cho việc đọc những cuốn như này. Vừa đọc vừa đánh dấu, ghi notes, … để sau này sử dụng.

Có một bản dịch bài giới thiệu với tiêu đề “Tự do là cội nguồn của tiến bộ“. Cuốn này cũng đã có bản dịch tiếng Việt do Nhà xuất bản Thống kê ấn hành. Tuy nhiên, e là lại giống nhiều cuốn sách dịch khác: hoặc là dịch dở tệ, hoặc là kiểm duyệt, lược dịch một số đoạn. Thế nên cứ đọc luôn nguyên bản tiếng Anh cho nó lành.
